Texas bluebonnets have always been some of my very favorite flowers from the time I was young. It has been my own family's tradition to get photos of our family or my girls taken in these pretty blue flowers.
I remember growing up my Nana would always talk about this Texas flower, and display paintings and artifacts around her house that showed it's beauty. When I see bluebonnets, even today, it reminds me of her and takes me back to my childhood.
This bluebonnet season was busy, and I had the pleasure of photographing many precious children and families, and a couple of adorable babies as well.
The Grapevine, Texas field I shot photos in was lined with photographers, so creative angles were often a must. Also, possessing a fair amount of retouching and post processing skills was necessary, as the blue flowers and green grass often cast color onto the skin of their subjects.
With as challenging as photographing in busy fields can be, and painstakingly retouching skin and colors extensively in post processing, bluebonnet portraits are some of my very favorite. Now that the 2018 bluebonnet season has passed, I am already excited for the beautiful flowers to come back and visit us again next year.
