Twin Cake Smash and First Birthday Portraits-Fort Worth Texas Photographer
A few months ago I had the pleasure of photographing these adorable brother and sister twins for their first birthday cake smash and one year portraits! They were seriously the cutest babies and I love that the whole family jumped in for a few of the photos.
As a Fort Worth family and children’s photographer, I have the pleasure of photographing many of babies and little ones, but this was my first time to photograph twins! I just love all the adorable pictures we captured of them both together and separately.
We started with the family portraits then moved on to photos of them with their big brother. We made sure to capture a few mommy and me and daddy and me pictures before we changed outfits and headed to a different part of the park for their cake smash.
This Fort Worth park is one of my very favorite locations for family and child pictures. It has gorgeous wide open fields, a stone wall, creek, and a beautiful view of the Texas sunset. I love all the variety it offers and it is one of the top location suggestions I offer to clients. For any client that wants a cake smash as part of their one year milestone portraits, I always recommend a change of clothes. The cake smash is done at the end of the session since the baby (or babies in this case!) are usually covered in cake and icing.
I encourage mom to bring wipes and plastic bags to put their messy clothes in afterwards. I always make sure to have some trash bags on hand to put leftover cake and anything that was left on the ground from the cake smash. Cleaning up any mess and making sure the location is left litter free is always a priority!
My style of photography aims to capture the beauty of your child (or family) and the gorgeous beauty of the natural surroundings. Because I feel that the subjects should be to the focus of the portrait, I do not rely on heavy props. I encourage mom to bring a cake, and if they wish, balloons. I feel that this keeps the focus of the portrait on the baby and the gorgeous background, but still lends a fun colorful touch to the cake smash pictures.
We had a gorgeous evening for this fall family session. Because we did the last portion of the pictures right at sunset, I knew I wanted to add in a beautiful sky when I edited the pictures in Photoshop.
I would love to help you plan you child’s milestone pictures, whether it is their first birthday and cake smash portraits, or any other age. Please contact me here to discuss scheduling your own family’ session. To see another first birthday portrait session please click here.
